UKCA is short for UK Conformity Assessed. On February 2, 2019, the British government announced the UKCA logo scheme that will be adopted in the case of no-deal Brexit. This means that after March 29, trade with the UK will be carried out in accordance with the rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO). The laws and regulations of the European Union will no longer apply to the United Kingdom. UKCA certification will replace the current CE certification implemented by the European Union, and most products will be included in the scope of certification. On January 31, 2020, the UK/EU Brexit Agreement was approved and formally entered into force. The UK has now entered a transitional period of "Brexit", during which time consultations will be held with the European Commission. The transition period is scheduled to end on December 31, 2020. When the United Kingdom leaves the European Union on December 31, 2020, the UKCA (UK Certification of Conformity) mark will become the new British product mark.
Use of the UKCA logo:
1. Most (but not all) products currently included in the CE mark will be included in the scope of the new UKCA mark;
2. The use rules of the new UKCA mark are consistent with the current CE mark use rules;
3. If the UK leaves the EU without reaching an agreement, the UK government will notify a time-limited phase. If the product has completed production and conformity assessment before the deadline of March 29, 2019, the manufacturer can still use the CE mark to sell the product on the UK market before the end of the restriction period;
4. If the manufacturer's product plans to perform third-party conformity assessment by the British conformity assessment agency, and the data is not transferred to the EU accreditation body, after March 29, 2019, the product enters the UK market and needs to apply for the UKCA mark;
5. The UKCA mark will not be recognized in the EU market, and products that currently require the CE mark will continue to require the CE mark to be sold in the EU.
What are the specific requirements for the UKCA certification mark?
The UKCA mark consists of the letters "UKCA" in the grid, with "UK" above the "CA". The height of the UKCA symbol must be at least 5mm (unless other sizes are required in specific regulations), and it cannot be deformed or used in different proportions.
The UKCA label must be clearly visible, legible and permanent. This will affect the suitability of different label specifications and materials-for example, products that are exposed to high temperatures and require UKCA marking will need to have durable heat-resistant labels to ensure compliance with regulations.
When will the UKCA certification take effect?
If you have already placed your product on the UK market (or in an EU country) before January 1, 2021, you don’t need to take any action.
Encourage companies to prepare for the full implementation of the new British system as soon as possible after January 1, 2021. However, in order to allow companies time to make adjustments, CE-marked products that meet EU requirements (products that meet UK requirements) can continue to be placed on the GB market until January 1, 2022, the requirements of the EU and the UK remain constant.

Record keeping
The manufacturer or its authorized representative (where permitted by law) must maintain documents proving that the product meets regulatory requirements. After the product is put on the market, it must be stored for 10 years.
The documents retained will depend on the specific regulations related to the product, but general records of the following must be kept:
How to design and manufacture products;
How to prove that the product meets relevant requirements;
The address of the manufacturer and any storage facility.
The UK market surveillance or law enforcement agencies can request this information at any time to check whether the product meets the legal requirements.
UK Declaration of Conformity (UK DoC)
The UK DoC is a document that must be drafted for most compliant products with the UKCA mark.
In the document, the manufacturer or its authorized representative in the UK (where permitted by law) shall:
A statement that the product meets the relevant statutory requirements applicable to a specific product
Make sure that the name and address of the manufacturer (or authorized representative in the UK) are on the file, as well as information about the product and conformity assessment agency (if relevant)
Manufacturers must provide UK DoC to market surveillance agencies upon request.
The information required for the declaration of conformity will be basically the same as that required for the current EU declaration of conformity, which may vary depending on the applicable regulations, but should generally include:
The name and detailed business address of the manufacturer or its authorized representative;
Product serial number, model or model identification;
Declaration (to be fully responsible for the compliance of the product);
Detailed information of the body authorized to perform conformity assessment procedures (if applicable);
The relevant laws and regulations that the product complies with;
The name and signature of the signatory of the UKCA DoC;
The date the statement was issued;
Supplementary information (if applicable).
